====== 4.2.1. Distinguish links from the surrounding text ====== When links are included in content, they must be distinguished from the text surrounding them. For example, the links could be underlined. **Note**\\ This rule does not apply to links included in link groups (menu items, for example), because their function is obvious. **Warning**\\ You are strongly advised not to: * Only use colour to distinguish links from the surrounding text. * Apply underlining to other elements than links. **Tip**\\ In addition to this recommendation it is also a good idea to provide the mouse-over appearance of links in the mock-ups. ===== Example ===== {{:notices:graphique-ergonomique:4.2.1-a.jpg?direct&400|}}\\ //example of a satisfactory visual distinction between a link and its surrounding text.// ===== Related recommendations ===== * Previous recommendation: [[notices:graphique-ergonomique:signaler-chaque-lien-qui-declenche-l-ouverture-d-une-nouvelle-fenetre]] * Next recommendation: [[notices:graphique-ergonomique:indiquer-le-poids-et-le-format-de-chaque-document-en-telechargement]]
